Supporting the Vulnerable: Aid Delivered to Social Institutions in Sumy Region
Washing machines have been provided to two facilities in the Sumy region that care for the elderly and people with disabilities: the Khmeliv and Atin Psychoneurological Boarding Homes. This aid was delivered by the team at the Peaceful heaven of Kharkiv Charitable Foundation with support from our partner, the international organization Oxfam.
“The Department of Social Policy of the Sumy Regional State Administration approached us with a request to support such institutions. We plan to provide aid to nine facilities, which house around 1,500 residents,” says Olena Putintseva, head of the Sumy branch of the Peaceful heaven of Kharkiv Foundation.
In total, the facilities will receive 11 washing machines and 3,140 kg of laundry detergent.
According to Ihor Tarasov, director of the Khmeliv Psychoneurological Boarding Home, this assistance is especially crucial and timely given the current challenges.
The Atin Boarding Home, which was relocated after heavy shelling in the summer of 2022, also gratefully received the aid.
“The entire team is grateful to the Peaceful heaven of Kharkiv Charitable Foundation and its volunteers for their compassion and humanity,” says Oleg Tereshchenko, director of the facility.
