Products for De-occupied Communities: 1,943 Food Kits Delivered to Tsyrkuny Residents
Last week, the team of the charitable foundation Peaceful heaven of Kharkiv worked in Tsyrkuny. Over several days, we distributed 1,943 food kits provided by the United Nations World Food Programme .
The kits included grains, flour, sugar, and other essential products, including long-lasting items.
Residents emphasize the importance of such aid.
“This really helps, especially for the elderly,” says local resident Volodymyr Volodymyrovych.
He and his wife returned to Tsyrkuny after the settlement was de-occupied in May 2022.
“At the end of March, the occupying forces forced us out of our home, and we made an 8,000-kilometer journey through Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany. My wife, four dogs, two cats, and I returned here from Germany in May 2022 and have been living here ever since,” he shares.
Before the full-scale invasion, the Tsyrkuny community had a population of about 10,000 people. Now, that number does not exceed 3,000. Constant shelling continues to force people to leave, though some eventually return.
We keep working to ensure that people in frontline communities have what they need.
