More than 1,500 people came to receive assistance distributed every Thursday in Kharkiv at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC). Food, medicine, warm clothing — all essentials for those affected by the war. The "Peaceful heaven of Kharkiv" charitable foundation actively supports this initiative by providing components for assembling humanitarian kits.
"People come from Kharkiv as well as internally displaced persons evacuated from Vovchansk, Lyptsi, and Kupiansk. Mothers with children can receive baby food and hygiene products. Our medics distribute medicines," says Bishop Vasyl Tuchapets, Exarch of Kharkiv.
As temperatures drop, the Bishop notes, the queues for medicines are growing longer. Despite the high number of recipients, no one is turned away. The church also hosts a "Point of Invincibility," where visitors can enjoy a hot drink, have a meal, charge their phones, or access the internet.
"I want to thank the 'Peaceful heaven of Kharkiv' foundation for their cooperation in ensuring that those affected by the war receive the support they need," adds Vasyl Tuchapets.
